What the map illustrates

The map shows SADC member states and proposed data flows from farm-level observations through national veterinary systems to regional biosecurity reporting. It is a concept map, not a live data view. The flows shown represent the intended architecture, not current operational connections.

A regional concept with national reporting

The model proposes that each participating country maintains its own national data instance, connected to a regional aggregation layer. National data remains under national control. The regional layer provides a shared view of disease alerts and movement patterns across borders.

Read the map as a concept

The map nodes represent national veterinary authorities, not individual farms or checkpoints. The connections represent proposed data flows, not physical infrastructure. The model requires bilateral agreements between participating countries and alignment with existing SADC animal health frameworks.

Data governance

Data governance arrangements are a prerequisite for the regional model. Each country retains sovereignty over its national data. The regional layer operates under a shared governance framework agreed by participating countries. HerdSentryAfrica does not hold or control national data.
